POCUS in I – AIM approach
Device: Vscan with dual probes
Indication: suspect DVT
Acquisition:
1. 3 point scan at inguinal area, mid-thigh and poplital fossa
2. Start from curve probe for larger screening, then change to linear probe
3. Compression is very important. Completely compressible vein indicates patency
Interpretation:
Left inguinal scan with Vscan (linear part)
- Echogenic thrombus within left common femoral vein
- Non-compressible
Making decision:
- Comfirm DVT (Diagnosis)
- Start anticoagulants (Treatment)
- Admit for continuing treatment and comprehensive vascular sonography (Disposition)
